What are spider veins?
Spider veins are tiny red/blue or purple blood vessels visible underneath the epidermis, primarily located on the face and legs. This type of indication applies mainly to women’s legs. These little veins are usually invisible, but as they dilate and burst they become apparent. They cause no health problems and aren’t painful, but they can be considered unattractive. They tend to get worse with age. Spider veins in the legs are called mini varicose veins, and in the face they are known as couperose. They can turn into varicose veins in the legs, which can cause real discomfort. Spider veins are caused by a venous disease. The more spider veins there are, the higher the risk of poor blood circulation.
There are several types of spider veins:
- Linear spider veins look like small lines.
- Angioma spider veins look like a star or a tree
Main causes:
- Poor blood circulation
- Venous insufficiency
- Weak vein walls
- Frequent standing
- Hormonal changes (menopause, pregnancy)
- Genetics
- Smoking
- Sun exposure
- Tight clothing
- Obesity
- Some medical treatments (cortisone)
How can spider veins be removed?
Removing spider veins isn’t that complicated; it’s actually quite quick and easy with an aesthetic medicine procedure.
There is a highly effective treatment that eliminates spider veins immediately:
The Nd Yag laser. This is one of the most frequently used lasers to treat spider veins. It gets rid of blood vessels immediately, but several sessions are needed to remove them all. Slight redness may occur just after the session, but this will fade within a few hours.
