EMTone is a noninvasive skin treatment that targets cellulite and slackening skin. To date, it’s the best noninvasive device to fight cellulite and slackening skin, requiring no time away from social and professional activities at all. EMTone is also approved by the American FDA as a benchmark device for treating cellulite.
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is the number one battle for a lot of women. It is practically nonexistent in men, and is located in very specific areas on the female body:
- The buttocks
- The stomach
- The thighs
- The arms
Cellulite is a collection of fat cells underneath the dermis (the hypodermis) that gives skin the pitted appearance of an orange peel. Cellulite is mainly caused by a high-fat diet, the consequence of which is lipid storage in the adipocytes (fat cells).
What’s more, water retention also causes fat cells to swell, worsening the orange peel skin effect. Adipocytes can swell to up to 50 times their original size. Cellulite also causes poor blood and lymph circulation, which prevents proper water and toxin drainage. This makes cellulite even worse; it’s truly a vicious cycle.
There are three kinds of cellulite:
- Adipose cellulite: this type of cellulite isn’t visible in vertical or horizontal positions. It’s relatively soft and is only noticeable if the skin is pinched. Adipose cellulite is primarily caused by an imbalanced, high-salt diet.
- Fibrous cellulite: this type of cellulite is visible in the vertical position, but skin appears relatively smooth when lying down. This is deep-set cellulite that has taken root firmly within the tissues. It is painful and feels hard to the touch. Fibrous cellulite is generally widespread on the thighs.
- Edematous cellulite: this type of cellulite is mainly caused by water retention. It triggers skin swelling and poor blood circulation.
Drainage massages can stimulate blood circulation and improve the lymphatic system. They do not, however, target collagen fibers and adipose tissue, which are considered the main factors behind orange peel skin.
For this reason, we recommend the benchmark treatment to combat cellulite: EMTone by BTL Aesthetics.
How does EMTone work against cellulite?
EMTone works thanks to a combination of monopolar thermal radiofrequency and mechanical energy generated by the device. This unique technology stimulates collagen and elastin production, which are strongly correlated with cellulite reduction and suppler skin.
What are EMTone’s indications and which areas can it treat?
EMTone works on all skin types.
- Reduces all types of cellulite (soft and hard),
- Firms skin,
- Improves skin quality.
According to a clinical study, patients observed a 93% reduction in visible cellulite on the thighs and buttocks.
The areas EMTone can treat are:
- The buttocks
- The front of the thighs
- The back of the thighs
- The abdomen
- The sides of the body
In some cases, results are visible after a single session and will continue to improve in the weeks after treatment. On average, 6 sessions are required to achieve long-term results. Your practitioner will also help you evaluate the best way to optimize your results with a proper diet and healthy exercise program.

Does it hurt?
EMTone™ is a completely painless, safe, and effective treatment/
Since it is a nonsurgical procedure, no anesthesia is required; you can resume your daily activities immediately after treatment.
The sensation is often compared to the application of stones combined with mechanical vibrations. Sensitivity and minor swelling may occur but this will resolve within a day or two.
How long does a BTL EMTone™ treatment last?
The hand pieces containing both technologies must be applied to the target area for about 10 minutes. Depending on the number of areas to be treated, the process can take from 10 to 60 minutes.
What is the recommended interval between sessions?
Plan on 4 to 6 sessions spaced one week apart to achieve optimum results.
